Kelly Smith

Babcock

Kelly commenced with Babcock Feb 2022 as the Fleet Manager for the RNZNs Support Force. The role entails being responsible for the MRO and E for HMNZS Aotearoa, Manawanui and Canterbury. Kelly is the only female engineer at this level in Babcock NZ Ltd.

Prior to Babcock….

Commander Kelly Smith joined the Royal New Zealand Navy as an Electronic Technician. She progressed through the ranks to Chief Petty Officer, the first female electronic technician to do so, commissioning to a General List (Weapon Engineering) Officer in 2007. After conducting her System Engineering Management Course with the Royal Navy in the United Kingdom, Kelly continued training and development, ashore and on HMNZ Ships Te Mana and Canterbury, gaining both her Weapon Engineering Charge and Engineering Charge Qualifications.

In 2012, Kelly was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. She was responsible for the planning, preparation and programme management of major maintenance periods for the RNZN Support Force.

Kelly then posted into the Maritime Operational Evaluation Team as the Fleet Damage Control Officer, achieving a milestone for the RNZN, as the first female in this position. In 2016, Kelly posted into the Centre of Engineering, working for Babcock (NZ) Ltd as the Engineering Change Portfolio Manager. Kelly was then posted to HMNZS Canterbury in 2017 as the Engineering Officer, which proved to be a very challenging but rewarding role.

During this period Kelly also studied towards a Bachelor of Applied Management. Following on from her EO role, Kelly was briefly posted as the Deputy Fleet Engineering Officer (Weapon Engineering), working within the Technical Seaworthiness Authority. In 2019, Kelly was selected for the role as Personal Staff Officer to the Vice Chief of Defence Force within the NZDF Headquarters in Wellington. At the start of 2020, Kelly posted into the Naval Engineering Authority as the Principal Engineer – Combat Systems and more lately as the Deputy Chief Naval Engineer, Naval Staff. Kelly has also become a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow through IMarEST.

Sune Rogers

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare - Strategy and Planning Manager

Sune Rogers was appointed Strategy & Planning Manager in January 2022 and leads the Strategy & Planning function at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare where she also held various planning, analytical and administrative roles. Prior to this Sune held several client executive and management roles across a variety of industries. Sune studied Information Technology at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa.

Jane Hwang

Solnet

Jane is an IT leader with 20+ years of experience helping organisations leverage technology to make a difference for their people and customers. She has collaborated with Kiwi business and technology leaders to deliver digital solutions. She is currently General Manager, Northern Region at Solnet.

Gabriela Koneski

Brian Perry Civil Limited

Civil Engineer from Brazil with experience in various projects. For almost four years, I have been working at Fletcher Construction Ltd., where I have had the opportunity to develop my career and specialized in marine projects. Currently, I am the Construction Manager for the Seaview Wharf Project in Wellington. This project involves strengthening the structure to make it resilient to seismic activity, with a significant portion of the work being carried out using Floating and Jack Up barges.
